Job summary

Akron Children's Hospital is seeking a Patient Service Representative to provide comprehensive front-desk services, including visit preparation, co-pay collection, patient tracking and scheduling, with a focus on delivering a positive patient experience. The role is full-time, onsite, with a bi-weekly 80-hour schedule.

Responsibilities include greeting patients, handling routine clerical tasks, managing insurance payments, maintaining supplies, and ensuring HIPAA compliance while collaborating

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in general office or administrative duties preferred.
• Experience in healthcare environment preferred.
• Experience with computerized scheduling systems preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians and staff.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) required.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and families and respond promptly and courteously.
• Perform visit preparation, co-pay collection and patient tracking as assigned.
• Schedule patient visits or diagnostic tests per hospital procedures.
• Manage third-party payors and collection of co-pays.
• Handle routine clerical tasks: faxing, copying, filing, mailings, messages.
• Maintain front desk inventory and communicate needs to staff.
• Set priorities to ensure smooth office operation and deadlines.
• Keep department and waiting area clean and organized.
• Participate in clerical cross-coverage as needed; ensure HIPAA compliance.
• Assist with other duties as required.
