Job summary

USC Care Medical Group seeks a Support Coordinator II to streamline outpatient clinic flow and maximize patient satisfaction. The role coordinates appointments across multi-specialty services and handles intake, referrals, and scheduling duties within an ambulatory setting.

Ideal candidates will have strong customer service experience, English communication skills, and familiarity with hospital scheduling systems and insurance processes.

Qualifications

• Req High School or equivalent.
• Req Demonstrated ability in customer service, intake and scheduling.
• Req Proven record of dealing with the public in a customer service role.
• Req Familiarity with word processing, Microsoft Outlook, intranet navigation, interpret online queries and preferably GE Centricity Business, Cerner, PBAR, scheduling systems.
• Req Excellent communication skills in English (spoken, reading, writing).
• Req Flexibility, proactive approach, ability to work under pressure and in a team.
• Req Knowledge of insurance plans and coverage provided, including government programs.
• Req Ability to process new referrals in a timely manner.
• Req Scheduling patients efficiently and independently.
• Req Ability to work independently and in a team setting.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness in entering information into computer systems.
• Processes new referrals promptly including obtaining outside medical records and authorizations.
• Schedules evaluations and clinic appointments in a timely manner.
• Assists with department scheduling functions per procedures.
• Reviews master schedule to optimize patient flow.
• Coordinates diagnostic testing and prepares materials for orders.
• Assists with billing-related documentation and collections.
• Answers phone coverage and distributes messages to medical personnel.
• Maintains confidentiality and good patient service.
• Supports coordination with Support Coordinator I for complex issues.
