Job summary

MedStar Health’s Washington Hospital Center is seeking a patient-facing Registration Specialist to greet patients, verify insurance, collect co-pays and schedule appointments. The role maintains accurate demographics and supports timely test requisitions and results processing.

The successful candidate will have a High School Diploma or GED and 0–1 year of healthcare customer service experience, with familiarity in IDX/GE Centricity systems and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Less than 1 year to 1 year experience in high quality customer service, healthcare preferred.
• Experience with computerized schedules/registration systems and electronic records preferred.
• CPR certification within 90 days required; additional certifications may vary by department.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients in a courteous, professional manner and coordinate efficient patient flow.
• Register patients, verify insurance, and collect co-pays; process time-of-service payments.
• Schedule appointments and prepare requisitions for tests as applicable.
• Answer phone calls and provide telephone triage and messaging as needed.
• Maintain and update patient records and demographs, and ensure accurate data entry.
