Job summary

Mercy Cedar Rapids is seeking a professional medical office clerk to support patient-centered care and provide essential administrative and clerical assistance. You will contribute to accurate scheduling, insurance verification, and timely record handling to ensure smooth patient flow.

Qualifications

One year of relevant customer service experience preferred.
Previous experience in a medical office setting preferred.
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

Answers telephone and disburses callers in a friendly, prompt and professional manner.
Prepares incoming medical record information for provider visit.
Schedules, cancels, reschedules and confirms patient office visits.
Provides patient education as needed for the scheduled tests/procedures.
Handles routine billing questions and forwards more complex questions to billing.
Responds to medical record requests in a timely manner.
Maintains a clean, neat, and orderly work area.
Verifies patients’ insurance.
Checks in and out patients for appointments.
Scans medical records into the patient’s chart.
Schedules lab and imaging appointments as directed.
Facilitates price estimates for patients.
Manages co-pay collection and cash drawer in EPIC.
Orders office supplies.
Assists with scheduling procedures in the operating room.
