Job summary

Merrimack Health is seeking a friendly, patient-centered Front Desk Receptionist to greet guests and direct them to the right departments. You will manage calls, assist with wayfinding, and perform patient lookups using the EMR system, ensuring a safe and welcoming entry point for all visitors.

The role requires strong communication, two years of customer service, and basic computer skills. Prior healthcare lobby experience and bilingual abilities are a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of two years of customer service, front desk reception, or public-facing experience.
• Strong interpersonal, active listening, and verbal communication skills.
• Basic computer proficiency, including email, Word, and data entry.
• Experience operating multi-line telephone systems.
• Preferred: healthcare or hospital lobby experience.
• EMR familiarity (MEDITECH) for patient lookup/navigation.
• Bilingual English/Spanish or English/Portuguese.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary front desk contact for patients, families, and visitors entering the hospital main lobby or calling main lines.
• Welcome guests and provide accurate hospital information.
• Perform authorized patient location lookups and assist with appointment wayfinding.
• Manage front desk phones and coordinate wheelchair transport or escort assistance.
