Job summary

Mayo Clinic is seeking a Health Unit Coordinator to provide organizational, receptionist, and clerical support to patient care units. You will monitor supplies, answer call lights, and assist the care team with orders in the EHR, while communicating with patients and staff across the continuum of care.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, basic computer skills, and experience in a medical environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Basic knowledge of computer systems and strong keyboarding skills.
• Successful completion of HUC post-secondary program, or HUC Certification preferred.
• Minimum of one year working experience in a medical environment preferred.
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology preferred.
• Proficiency with computer skills and EHR systems (EPIC preferred).
• Outstanding customer service, interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Able to adapt to unpredictable situations and flexible hours including days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Provides organizational, receptionist, and clerical support to patient care units and the health care team.
• Monitors and orders supplies, answers patient call lights, and elevates patient needs to nursing staff.
• Assists care team with managing orders in the EHR and communicates with patients and staff across care continuum.
• Functions as a resource to health care team members and uses Mayo Clinic resources appropriately.
• Participates in continuous improvement activities and supports the care delivery model.
