Mayo Clinic is seeking a Health Unit Coordinator to provide organizational, receptionist, and clerical support on patient care units. You will answer call lights, assist nursing staff, and help manage orders in the EHR.

The role emphasizes effective communication and teamwork across the continuum of care. Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, with HUC program or certification preferred, and 1 year in a medical setting preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• HUC post-secondary program or HUC Certification preferred.
• Minimum of one year medical environment experience preferred.
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology preferred.
• Working knowledge with EHR systems, EPIC preferred.
• Flexibility to work days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
• Maintains certifications/licensure per work unit requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide organizational, receptionist, and clerical support to patient care units and the healthcare team.
• Promptly answer patient call lights and elevate patient needs to nursing staff.
• Assist in managing orders in the EHR and communicate across the continuum of care.
• Support the healthcare team by anticipating and responding to requests and patient needs.
• Participate in continuous improvement activities and maintain professionalism across shifts.
