Job summary

Mayo Clinic is seeking a Health Unit Coordinator to provide organizational and clerical support to patient care units. You will respond to call lights, assist with care team orders in the EHR, and communicate with patients, visitors, and staff.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or equivalent, with post-secondary HUC training or certification preferred, and experience in a medical environment. EPIC/EHR knowledge is valued.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Post-secondary HUC program or certification preferred.
• Minimum one year of medical environment experience preferred.
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology and computer skills preferred.
• Proficiency with EHR systems, EPIC preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide organizational, receptionist, and clerical support to patient care units.
• Answer patient call lights and escalate needs to nursing staff.
• Assist care team with managing orders in the EHR.
• Communicate effectively with patients, visitors and facility staff.
• Contribute to continuous improvement activities.
