Job summary

IU Health in Indianapolis is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCA) to support bedside care, including assisting with meals, mobility, baths, and linens, ensuring a positive patient experience. The PCA will assist the bedside RN by obtaining vital signs, reporting changes, and maintaining patient safety with equipment like gait belts and bed/chair alarms.

The role requires compassion, a caring bedside manner, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Must hold current BLS certification through AHA or complete IU Health PCA program.
• Knowledge of age-appropriate patient care.
• Up-to-date knowledge of procedures and standards for patient care activities.
• Proficiency in interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to maintain concentration under interruptions and stress.

Responsibilities

• Obtain vital signs and report abnormalities to the bedside RN.
• Provide meals assistance, assist with drinks, and assist with bathing and linen changes.
• Assist patients with walking and mobility, and ensure safety with gait belts and alarms.
• Maintain a clean, safe bedside environment and respond to patient needs promptly.
