Job summary

Indiana University Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCA) to provide compassionate bedside care in a fast-paced hospital environment. The role supports RNs by obtaining vital signs, monitoring patient status, and assisting with daily activities such as meals, mobility, baths, and linen changes.

Qualifications

• Requires current Basic Life Support certification through the AHA or completion of IU Health PCA education program.
• Requires knowledge of care appropriate to the age and developmental level of the patients served.
• Requires proficiency in interpersonal and communication skills.
• Requires ability to withstand high levels of tension and stress.
• Requires ability to organize tasks and manage a high workload within a limited time.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with meals, hydration, and positioning; encourage walking and bath assistance.
• Provide clean linens and gowns; ensure patient comfort and hygiene.
• Obtain vital signs and report abnormalities to the RN or charge nurse.
• Maintain safety using gait belts, alarms, and staying within arm's reach of patients.
