Job summary

IU Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCA) in Bloomington, IN. The role involves assisting with meals, hydration, mobility, bathing, and linen changes to enhance patient comfort.

You will support the bedside RN by taking vital signs and reporting changes promptly, while maintaining safety using gait belts and alarms. Strong bedside manner, compassion, and teamwork are essential in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA or completion of the IU Health PCA education program.
• Knowledge of care appropriate to the age and developmental level of patients served.
• Up-to-date knowledge of procedures and standards related to patient care.
• Proficiency in interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to withstand high levels of tension and stress.
• Ability to manage a high workload and set priorities.

Responsibilities

• Provide drinks, assist with meal ordering, encourage walking, assist with baths, and provide clean linens and gowns.
• Assist bedside RN by obtaining vital signs and report abnormalities or changes to the RN or charge nurse.
• Maintain patient safety using gait belts, bed and chair alarms, and staying within arm's reach while moving.
• Assist with overall patient-care duties to support meaningful patient experiences.
