Job summary

IU Health in Muncie, IN is seeking a dedicated Patient Care Technician (PCA) for a full-time night shift to support bedside nursing through daily patient care activities, vital signs, and safe, compassionate assistance with meals, mobility, baths, and linen changes.

This role emphasizes patient safety, teamwork, and timely communication with the RN and charge nurse to detect changes and respond promptly, using gait belts and alarms to maintain a secure environment.

Qualifications

• Requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through AHA or completion of IU Health PCA education program.
• Ability to provide patient-centered care and support as part of the bedside team.
• Proficiency in interpersonal communication and collaboration with RNs and other staff.
• Ability to follow procedures and maintain infection control standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide drinks, assist with meal ordering, and help patients with meals.
• Encourage walking and assist with baths, linen changes, and gown care.
• Obtain vital signs and report any abnormalities to the RN or charge nurse.
• Maintain patient safety with gait belts, bed/chair alarms, and close supervision.
