Job summary

Indiana University Health System in Bloomington is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCA) to provide compassionate bedside care, assist with meals, hygiene, mobility, and linens, and support patients in a fast-paced hospital setting.

You will assist the bedside RN by taking vital signs, reporting changes, and following safety protocols; a reliable team player with strong communication skills and the ability to manage a lingering workload is essential.

Qualifications

• Requires Basic Life Support certification (AHA) or completion during onboarding.
• Knowledge of age-appropriate patient care and development.
• Up-to-date knowledge of patient care procedures.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to maintain concentration under interruptions and stress.
• Ability to manage a high workload and prioritize tasks.
• Familiarity with infection control principles.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with drinks, meals, walking, baths, and linens.
• Provide bedside clinical support to the RN, including obtaining vital signs.
• Report abnormalities or changes in patient condition promptly.
• Maintain patient safety using gait belts, alarms, and close proximity.
• Demonstrate compassionate bedside manner in a fast-paced setting.
