Job summary

Indiana University Health System is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCA) to support bedside care. Responsibilities include assisting with meals, mobility, bath routines, and linen changes, while providing compassionate, patient-centered service.

Qualifications

• Current Basic Life Support certification through the AHA or completion of the IU Health PCA education program.
• Knowledge of care appropriate to the age and developmental level of the patients served.
• Up-to-date knowledge of procedures and standards related to patient care activities.
• Proficiency in interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to maintain concentration under frequent interruptions and stress.
• Ability to manage a high workload and set priorities.

Responsibilities

• Provide drinks and assist with meal ordering.
• Encourage walking and assist with baths.
• Provide clean linens and gowns.
• Obtain vital signs and report abnormalities to the RN or charge nurse.
• Ensure patient safety using gait belts and alarms; stay within arm's reach during movement.
