Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support patient care under RN supervision. You will provide direct and indirect care to diverse patients, engage with the care team, and contribute to safety and comfort across shifts.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, completion of an approved PCT/MA/Nurse program or HMH PCT Apprenticeship, and obtention of BLS within 60 days. Phlebotomy/EKG experience is preferred. Competitive benefits apply.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED or equivalent.
• Completion of Certified Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant or Patient Care Technician program or Fundamentals of Nursing program; or HMH PCT Apprenticeship Program.
• Equivalent medical background experience (e.g., EMT, Home Health Aide, CMA, MA, PCT, Nursing Assistant).
• AHA Basic Life Support (HCP) Certification within 60 days of entering position.
• Preferred: phlebotomy, EKG, vital signs and blood sugar experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care based on age, taking into account physical, psychosocial, education, safety and related criteria.
• Ensure effective and safe patient outcomes through appropriate actions.
• Maintain communication with patients and healthcare team regarding status and care.
• Participate in interdisciplinary collaboration of the patient's plan of care from admission to discharge.
• Contribute to Unit/Department Performance Improvement activities.
• Assist with admission, assessment, examinations and procedures.
• Record clinical data and notify RN of abnormal results.
• Assist with transportation, meals, and daily activities as needed.
• Maintain room readiness and supply inventory.
