Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician to join our team as a patient-centered caregiver within a hospital setting. The role supports the interdisciplinary team under RN supervision, delivering safe, effective care across age groups and ensuring patient comfort and satisfaction.

Required are a high school diploma or GED and completion of a CNA/MA/PCT program or equivalent medical training; BLS within 60 days is also required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of CNA/MA/PCT program or Fundamentals of Nursing or HMH PCT Apprenticeship, or equivalent medical background.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 60 days of start date.
• Experience in hospital setting preferred.
• Ability to learn quickly, maintain accountability, and work well in a team.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care based on age, safety, and education needs.
• Document vital signs and patient status and notify RN of changes.
• Perform phlebotomy, venipuncture, EKG, and specimen handling per protocol.
• Assist with admissions, examinations, and daily patient activities.
• Ensure equipment readiness and safety, including code carts and emergency gear.
• Participate in patient care plan from admission to discharge.
