Job summary

IU Health is hiring a Patient Care Technician (PCA) to support bedside nursing and deliver compassionate care. You will assist with meals, hygiene, mobility, and linen changes, while monitoring patient comfort and safety.

This role requires BLS certification and a patient-focused bedside manner in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities include obtaining vital signs, reporting changes to the RN, and ensuring safety using gait belts and alarms.

Qualifications

• Requires current BLS certification through the AHA or completion of the IU Health PCA program.
• Experience with age-appropriate patient care.
• Ability to stay calm under pressure and manage a high workload.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to read basic math and perform tasks with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Assist bedside RN with clinical tasks and patient care.
• Obtain vital signs and report abnormalities.
• Assist with meals, hydration, bathing, and linen changes.
• Encourage walking and mobility as ordered.
• Maintain patient safety with gait belts and alarms.
