Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician III/II to provide direct patient care in a high-demand hospital setting in Worcester, MA. You will work under licensed clinicians to monitor patients, perform EKGs, venipuncture when needed, and support daily living activities with compassionate care.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, BLS certification, and strong English communication.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Current Basic Life Support certification required.
• Experience in inpatient/outpatient care or clinical care training preferred.
• Excellent English communication, written and verbal.
• Medical terminology competency required.
• Computer skills and ability to document care.
• Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Provide clear, timely communication to the RN about patient changes.
• Monitor high-risk patients as assigned by the Resource Nurse.
• Assist in maintaining a safe patient environment and de-escalate when needed.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living and mobility.
• Record vital signs, height/weight, and conduct routine measurements.
• Perform EKGs, point-of-care tests, and bladder scanning per hospital standards.
• Phlebotomy in certain locations and prepare specimens for transport to lab.
• Set up and assist with treatments, equipment, and sterile technique as directed.
• Observe and document patient intake and care, including tube feeding and drainage as directed.
• Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharge procedures as needed.
