Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician I to join our team in Worcester, MA. The role provides patient care under supervision, assisting with daily living activities, vital signs, and basic procedures in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Responsibilities include communication with RNs, monitoring high-risk patients, and maintaining safety and cleanliness. A high school diploma, BLS within 30 days, and strong English skills are required; weekend shifts are part of the schedule.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of employment.
• English literacy and basic computer skills.
• Good command of medical terminology; able to stay calm under stress.

Responsibilities

• Provide clear, timely communication to the RN regarding patient observations and changes.
• Maintain constant observation of high‑risk patients as assigned.
• Assist with daily living activities and safe patient handling.
• Support treatments and prepare equipment; position patient and provide emotional support.
• Record vital signs, monitor weights/heights, and collect samples for transport.
