Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Central Massachusetts is seeking a Patient Care Technician I to join the Med Surg Unit. Under the direction of a licensed clinician, you will provide patient care to meet personal needs and comfort, and assist the healthcare team.

Required: high school diploma or GED and Current Basic Life Support, plus prior patient care experience or 800 hours as PCT I. You will perform vital signs, assist with daily living activities, and help ensure patient safety in a busy hospital

Qualifications

• Clear and concise English communication.
• Basic Life Support certification.
• Medical terminology knowledge.
• Computer skills for charting and records.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care to meet personal needs and comfort under licensed supervision.
• Maintain a safe patient environment and follow restraint policies when directed.
• Assist with daily living activities, mobility, meals, and nourishment.
• Observe and communicate patient conditions to the RN in a timely manner.
• Support the healthcare team with treatments and procedures as needed.
