Job summary

One Medical is seeking a Float Phlebotomist/Front Desk (Patient Care Specialist) to deliver venipuncture and clinical support while ensuring a welcoming in-office experience across multiple Bethesda-area offices. You’ll be the first point of contact, guiding patients and coordinating care with the practice team.

You will perform a range of tasks from patient intake and scheduling to limited clinical duties, with a focus on compassionate communication and efficient workflow.

Qualifications

• At least 6 months of relevant experience as a Medical Assistant or Phlebotomist outside of a training/externship environment.
• Strong customer service and ability to build relationships with patients.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with computers and multiple software systems.
• Experience working in collaborative, multi-disciplinary teams, including remote teams.
• Ability to maintain composure and deliver patient-centered care during collection.
• Demonstrated adaptability and quick learning in changing environments.

Responsibilities

• Provide venipuncture and clinical support services, serving as a patient care ambassador.
• Manage patient intake, same-day schedule, follow-up scheduling, and billing knowledge.
• Handle front desk duties including check-in/check-out and insurance verification.
• Support providers and the medical team with clerical tasks and documentation.
• Assist with extended scope duties such as non-blood specimen collection, EKGs, vitals, vaccines, and swabs.
• Ensure proper labeling, handling, and processing of specimens and maintain inventory and sterilization.
• Respond to patient messages and follow up on lab cases, supporting the care team.
• Contribute to team development through huddles and problem solving.
• Perform opening/closing duties and maintain a welcoming office environment.
• Become proficient with our tech suite (Slack, G-suite, Zoom, Circulation, RingCentral, EMR).
