Job summary

Mountain Area Health Education Center (MAHEC) is seeking a Customer Care Associate to support patient check-in/check-out, appointment scheduling, and insurance verification in a clinical setting. The role emphasizes delivering an excellent patient experience and accurate data handling.

Responsibilities include updating demographics, collecting payments, coordinating interpreting services, and ensuring smooth operations across front desk and scheduling areas.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with two years of relevant experience or equivalent
• Previous experience in medical/clinical office is preferred
• Strong computer and data entry skills with medical office software proficiency

Responsibilities

• Check-in patients via phone or in person and schedule appointments
• Update demographics and insurance information and verify coverage
• Collect payments and reconcile cash drawers as assigned
• Refer patients to financial advocates as needed
• Provide patient paperwork and escort to appropriate areas
• Respond to walk-in patient needs and monitor waiting areas
• Check-out patients and provide post-visit summaries
• Coordinate interpreting services as needed
• Scan, fax, and distribute documents and manage EHR inbox
• Participate in orientation and cross-cover front desk and scheduling areas
