Job summary

MCHWC Organization seeks a Call Center Specialist to ensure timely, friendly handling of patient and caller inquiries. You will schedule medical visits, assist with dental and behavioral health calls, and collect necessary data for authorizations and records in the EHR system.

You will verify insurance eligibility, explain clinic policies, and support the billing team with accurate demographics and insurance information while maintaining HIPAA confidentiality and a high standard of customer

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency.
• Proficiency in English; Spanish preferred.
• Experience in a medical office/FQHC setting.
• Strong organizational, writing and verbal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and provide excellent customer service.
• Typing speed of at least 40 WPM.
• Knowledge of Medi-Cal, CHDP, CPSP and sliding scale programs.
• Ability to interpret written and oral instructions.

Responsibilities

• Answers and directs calls promptly with a friendly attitude.
• Schedules patient visits according to provider schedules and clinic protocols.
• Records no-shows and cancellations and routes messages to staff.
• Verifies insurance eligibility, especially Medi-Cal/Medicare/HMO.
• Captures demographics and insurance data into the EHR.
• Explains scheduling policies and asks for necessary documentation.
• Maintains HIPAA confidentiality and high service standards.
• Performs general clerical tasks as needed.
