Responsibilities

• Review and process referral workqueues documenting activities.
• Serve as primary contact for referring physicians and new patients.
• Maintain referral records and log external referrals when applicable.
• Assign new patients to providers considering scheduling issues.
• Schedule and register patients by phone or in person prior to first appointment.
• Collect and verify insurance and referral information for first appointment.
• Schedule pre-appointment tests or appointments.
• Explain first appointment procedures in layman's terms and send packets.
• Provide directions to patients and set expectations per clinic guidelines.
• Create a professional first impression for patients and physicians.
• Coordinate outside medical records and imaging materials for new patients.
• Prioritize new patient scheduling based on diagnosis and treatment status.
• Coordinate care discussions about trials and consultations with relevant staff.
• Meet with patients after new visits to explain care coordination.
• Coordinate surgeries scheduling and post-operative appointments.
