Job summary

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle seeks a Patient Care Coordinator I to act as a professional liaison for patients, families, care providers, and Fred Hutch departments. The role heavily uses multiple computer systems to facilitate complex scheduling and ensure a smooth transition between care settings.

Responsibilities include coordinating internal and external appointments, updating patient information in the EHR, and supporting financial clearance when needed.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Ability to communicate verbally in person, on the phone, and in writing in a clear and concise manner.
• Proficient in MS Word, email, and data entry in a Windows-based environment.
• Demonstrated customer service skills.
• Ability to solve complex problems and meet patient needs.
• Ability to work in a high pressure, deadline oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Schedules all patient appointments related to treatment within the organization and communicates schedule to patients.
• Coordinates scheduling with other departments to ensure efficient patient flow.
• Works closely with patients, families, visitors, providers, and staff to identify needs and answer questions.
• Updates patient and caregiver contact information in the EHR as needed.
• Communicates with providers and staff regarding scheduling and treatment needs and notifies appropriate parties.
• Manages and prioritizes scheduling requests.
• Recognizes emergencies and initiates correct procedures.
• Supports department functions and may cross-cover or assist on special projects.
