Job summary

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle seeks a Patient Care Coordinator I to act as a professional liaison for patients and families, and to facilitate complex scheduling across multiple systems. The role supports continuity of care by ensuring smooth transitions between care settings and building trusted relationships with patients.

The position is 1.0 FTE, 40 hours weekly, with partial on-site at NW Hospital Community Site and remote work options.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced health care setting.
• Proficient in MS Word, email, and data entry.

Responsibilities

• Schedules all patient appointments related to treatment and external consults.
• Coordinates scheduling with departments to ensure efficient patient flow.
• Communicates with patients, families, providers, and staff to identify needs and resolve problems.
• Updates patient demographics and insurance information in registration systems.
• Notifies providers and other parties about scheduling needs and changes.
• Prioritizes scheduling requests and triages urgent cases as needed.
• Supports department functions and assists with training new staff.
• Assists with provider templates and scheduling templates as needed.
• Triages calls from referring physicians, patients, and family members.
