Job summary

Lehigh Valley Health Network is seeking a Medical Assistant to be the first point of contact for patients and provide essential administrative, clerical, and clinical support to ensure a seamless patient experience.

The role includes patient check-in/out, insurance verification, appointment scheduling, EMR maintenance, room preparation, specimen collection, and post-discharge follow-up to support care coordination and high-quality service.

Qualifications

• Specialized Diploma as a Medical Assistant or LVPG Medical Assistant Trainee.
• Strong multitasking, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in EMR systems, word processing, and Excel.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
• BLS - Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Be professional and empathetic to build trust with patients and visitors.
• Coordinate patient check-in/check-out, verify insurance, collect payments, and process referrals.
• Schedule appointments and optimize clinic workflow.
• Handle patient inquiries and maintain EMR accuracy.
• Prepare exam rooms, stock supplies, and assist with specimen collection.
• Support clinicians during examinations and collect patient information for review.
• Complete follow-up calls to patients within 2–3 days post-discharge.
