Job summary

Washington University in St. Louis seeks a Patient Billing Services Representative II for Orthopedic Surgery. You will provide courteous, patient-centered service at check-in/out, verify insurance and referrals, and assist with scheduling to ensure smooth clinic operations.

You will handle copayments and balances, maintain HIPAA compliance, and collaborate with the Pre-Arrival team. Some travel to other Orthopedic locations may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Basic Life Support certification must be obtained within one month of hire date.
• 3 years of billing systems and third-party claims or medical office experience.

Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional customer service with a patient-centered attitude.
• Verify patient insurance, referrals, and demographics in EPIC; check-in and check-out patients.
• Schedule appointments and collect copayments, balances, and self-pay amounts.
• Ensure No Surprises Billing Act compliance with good faith estimates for self-pay patients.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and complete required training.
• Coordinate with Pre-Arrival to obtain accurate insurance/referral information.
• Prepare scheduled appointments and assist patients as needed.
• Act as a concierge to waiting patients and support team collaboration.
