Job summary

Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters is seeking a Patient Access Technician to support revenue cycle functions. Responsibilities include insurance verification, pre-registration, and accurate data collection using computerized systems.

The role reports to the Mental Health Therapy Manager and requires flexibility to cover multiple registration locations. Ideal candidates have 3–5 years of related experience, familiarity with ICD-9/CPT coding, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3–5 years related work experience preferred.
• 12 months minimum medical billing and follow-up experience in hospital patient account department.
• Familiar with ICD-9/CPT coding and third party payer verification processes.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Proficient keyboarding skills.
• Ability to travel to varying work locations as needed.
• Increased security clearance required: FBI fingerprinting, background check, CPS registry search.

Responsibilities

• Performs insurance verification for active policy, confirmation of benefits or authorization requirements.
• Reviews and updates registration discrepancies.
• Communicates authorization requirements to appropriate staff to ensure services are properly authorized.
• Works collaboratively with various departments on patient access information.
• Conducts pre-registration and insurance verification for CHKDHS services.
• Provides coverage to assigned registration locations including those outside of primary work location.
• Functions as a Patient Account Tech I as necessary.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
