Job summary

The Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters is seeking a Patient Access Technician to provide clerical and liaison support for the patient care team, handling data collection, documentation, and data retrieval using computerized systems.

Under supervision, you will greet patients, assist with registration and insurance verification, support revenue cycle tasks, and coordinate with multiple departments while traveling to various locations as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2-3 years related work experience preferred.
• Minimum of six months customer service experience required, preferably in a healthcare setting.
• Knowledge of third party payers, ICD-9/CPT coding and medical terminology preferred.
• Interpersonal skills necessary to exchange information clearly in written and oral form.
• Proficiency in computer keyboarding required.
• Must be able to travel to varying work locations as needed.

Responsibilities

• Greet, instruct, direct and assist patients and visitors upon arrival to the service area.
• Facilitates revenue cycle tasks including patient registration, insurance verification, co-payment collection, authorization data entry and billing inquiries.
• Collaborates with departments on patient access information.
• Performs pre-registration and insurance verification for CHKDHS services.
• Provides coverage to assigned registration locations, including locations outside primary work location as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
