Job summary

Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters is looking for a Patient Registration Technician to greet patients and visitors, collect data, schedule registrations, and verify insurance. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, 2–3 years of related experience, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Ability to relate well with the public.
• Effective oral and written communications with proper grammar, spelling and punctuation.
• Ability to sort and file materials correctly by alphabetical or numeric systems.
• Knowledge of computer data entry processes.
• General knowledge of ICD-9/CPT coding and third party payer insurance verification processes and medical terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greets, instructs, directs and assists patients and visitors on arrival.
• Performs data collection, documentation, and data retrieval with computerized systems.
• Performs patient scheduling and registration processes; handles insurance verification and billing inquiries.
• Maintains account information, co-pays, referrals, authorizations and related billing inquiries.
• Reports to Manager/Supervisor.
• Provides clerical and secretarial support and performs other duties as assigned.
