AdventHealth in Orlando, FL is seeking a patient access specialist to register patients for services, verify insurance, and collect upfront payments. You will ensure accurate demographic data, obtain required documents, and support daily operations in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Ideal candidates bring 1+ year of customer service experience, knowledge of HIPAA, and proficiency with Microsoft Office; bilingual in English/Spanish is preferred.

Qualifications

• 1+ customer service experience
• Knowledge of HIPAA privacy rules and ability to discuss confidential information
• Proficiency with Microsoft programs and basic database usage
• Ability to learn and perform multiple tasks efficiently
• English communication skills (verbal and written)
• Ability to follow complex instructions with attention to detail
• Self-motivation and quick thinking
• Strong customer service skills and professional demeanor
• Ability to handle difficult people with tact and compassion
• Typing speed of 20 wpm
• Knowledge of Cerner is a plus
• Basic medical terminology is a plus
• Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus

Responsibilities

• Registers patients for services and verifies insurance information
• Obtains required patient documents and demographics
• Creates good faith estimates and collects upfront payments as needed
• Maintains flexible scheduling and covers workstations as needed
• Ensures armband accuracy and secures required forms
• Supports registration staff during peak times
• Screens and directs faxes and assists with prescriptions when applicable
• Reviews orders and clinician signatures for accuracy
• Directs patients within departments and monitors lobby areas
• Manages clerical tasks and supports daily operational flow
