Job summary

Virginia Mason Franciscan Health is seeking a Patient Access Representative to perform patient registration and admitting across hospital access points, including the Emergency Department and main registration areas.

You will verify demographics, insurance eligibility, and account information while supporting scheduling, documentation, and inquiry processes to ensure a smooth access experience for patients and families.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required at hire.
• 1 year of healthcare or patient access experience preferred.
• Knowledge of patient registration procedures and real-time insurance verifications.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient registration and admitting across access points with accurate demographic and insurance data.
• Scan, index, and manage patient documents to support registration and billing workflows.
• Explain financial responsibilities to patients, provide estimates, and collect payments when appropriate.
• Schedule, confirm, and adjust patient appointments to support timely access to care and clinic workflows.
• Identify and escalate routine discrepancies and route complex issues per procedures.
• Provide patient-facing support via telephone and other approved channels, documenting interactions.
