Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 6 months experience working with the public; healthcare setting preferred.
• Demonstrates excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Maintains strict adherence to patient confidentiality. Working knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Working knowledge of EPIC, Passport, and Microsoft Outlook applications preferred.
• Experience with insurance verification, benefits interpretation, and point of service collections preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interview patients to collect complete demographic and financial information for regulatory and billing purposes.
• Perform pre-registration, verify insurance, and collect copayments/deductibles.
• Enter patient data in EPIC system accurately and timely.
• Provide excellent customer service to patients and families with empathy.
• Verify insurance eligibility and benefits using electronic systems or phone.
• Educate patients on financial responsibility and collect payments when applicable.
• Coordinate with registration, scheduling, and related departments to obtain needed data.
