Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is seeking an experienced Patient Access professional to join the Admissions team. You will process preadmission and admission demographics, verify insurance, and enter data into the hospital system to ensure accuracy and compliance.

You will coordinate with patients, financial counselors, and care teams to streamline registration, scheduling, and check-in, while upholding MUSC policies and striving for excellent patient satisfaction.

Qualifications

• High school diploma with 1 year of customer service or related experience.
• Ability to interpret and apply financial procedures and regulations.
• Experience with hospital information systems or word processing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist Patient Access staff with registration, insurance verification, and customer service.
• Serve as a subject matter expert in patient access workflows and policies.
• Coordinate patient flow, scheduling, and check-in processes.
• Handle escalated inquiries and resolve issues to improve patient satisfaction.
• Collaborate with clinical departments to address patient access needs.
• Conduct quality assurance reviews of registration and insurance data for accuracy.
• Assist in training new staff and delivering ongoing education on policies.
• Monitor KPIs related to registration accuracy and patient wait times.
• Participate in department meetings to improve efficiency and patient experience.
