Job summary

Pardee UNC Health Care is seeking a Patient Access Representative I to be the first point of contact for patients and families. You will register patients for services, guide them through the care system, and serve as a helpful resource throughout the registration process.

Key duties include verifying identities, updating insurance details, explaining coverage options, collecting co-pays, and assisting with regulatory forms.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Experience performing in a customer service capacity.
• Experience working in a business system, such as an EMR POS or inventory system.

Responsibilities

• Greets and registers patients, guiding them through the system of care with a professional, caring approach.
• Verifies patient identities and updates demographic and insurance information in the EMR.
• Explains complex health insurance coverage and related documentation in compliance with privacy standards.
• Schedules patients for services and directs them within the facility as needed.
• Collects co-payments and explains financial obligations, including using price estimation tools when applicable.
• Assists patients with completing forms required for regulatory and accreditation purposes.
• May support related tasks such as scheduling, switchboard operations, or inventorying patient belongings.
