Job summary

North Country Hospital is seeking a Patient Access Representative to serve as the first contact for patients and visitors, assisting with registration, eligibility and insurance information, and guiding visitors per policy. The role requires handling PHI per HIPAA and coordinating with multiple departments to ensure smooth patient flow.

The position involves verifying demographics, handling financial registrations, and supporting the switchboard and EMS coordination as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent. Medical terminology preferred.
• Computer and electronic communications skills required. Able to use multi-systems to complete key responsibilities.
• One-year prior office experience preferable.
• Able to present a neat and orderly appearance.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and verify patient identity, demographic and registration information; communicate purpose for and requirements of documents.
• Bedside follow-up with patients to obtain signatures and complete forms including consents and Medicare documents.
• Complete financial registration responsibilities including verify guarantor accounts, eligibility, signatures, insurance cards, patient payments and estimates.
• Monitors on-calls, contacts on-call physician and returns calls to patients.
• Coordinate EMS toning for transfers and record data for each call.
• Monitor EMS radio and emergency panel, notify parties of activity and record EMS data.
• Assist Switchboard with calls per protocol and route to departments.
• Complete tasks per shift duties including prior authorizations, admissions logs and PHI accuracy.

Education
