Job summary

Sentara Careplex is hiring Patient Access Representatives to manage patient registration, verify identity, and ensure accurate service placement. You will review schedules, scan documents, and enter demographic and insurance data into the electronic health record, while explaining and collecting co-pays and balances.

Responsibilities include greeting patients, coordinating with service areas, and assisting with scheduling, pre-admission, and discharge tasks as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; higher degrees may substitute for experience.
• 2 years in Customer Service or Data Entry roles.
• Familiarity with ICD-9/CPT coding and medical terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Register patients and verify identity to select the correct record.
• Review schedules and physician orders to register for services.
• Scan insurance cards and IDs and enter demographic and insurance data into the EHR.
• Explain and collect co-pays, deposits, and balances; perform secure transactions.
• Greet patients and families and guide them to service areas; assist with scheduling, pre-admission and discharge duties.
