Job summary

Advocate Health seeks a detail-oriented patient access associate to register patients, verify demographics and insurance, and collect co-pays. You will ensure privacy, explain coverage to patients, and coordinate with Financial Advocates as needed.

You will greet patients, answer calls, and support scheduling and transport, while maintaining a courteous, professional demeanor in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Strong customer service and communication skills are essential.
• Familiarity with HIPAA and patient confidentiality is required.
• Proficiency with EPIC EMR and patient billing/verification tools is preferred.
• Ability to manage cash handling and collect co-pays accurately.

Responsibilities

• Create and register new patient records in the EHR system, ensuring no duplicates and accurate identity verification.
• Collect demographic, guarantor, and insurance information and collect co-pays where applicable.
• Explain insurance coverage and financial responsibilities to patients and refer to Financial Advocates as needed.
• Ensure HIPAA compliance in all patient interactions and data handling.
• Schedule appointments and assist patients with test preparations, arrivals, and transport needs.
• Provide courteous, professional support to patients and visitors and respond to routine inquiries.
• Maintain work queues and follow the department’s approved processes.
