Job summary

Wellstar in Georgia is seeking a Patient Access Representative to greet patients, interview for demographic, financial and insurance information, and enter data into the registration system. You will coordinate scheduling, pre-certifications and pre-authorizations while ensuring accuracy and compliance.

This role requires strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to explain financial policies to patients.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year experience in healthcare or institutional work setting.
• Computer/data entry experience; ability to communicate with various members of the healthcare team.
• Epic experience preferred.
• Strong problem solving and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Interviews each patient or representatives to obtain complete and accurate demographic, financial and insurance information.
• Enters all patient information into the registration system.
• Obtains all necessary signatures and is knowledgeable regarding any special forms that may be required by the patients third-party payer.
• Verifies insurance coverage and benefits for inpatients and outpatients.
• Responds to customer requests and answers questions regarding various service and account information.
• Maintains confidentiality of patient information in accordance with policy and HIPAA regulations.
• Assists physicians and staff to expedite scheduling, pre-admission, Medicaid screening and pre-certifications on all accounts.
