Job summary

Geisinger is seeking a front line patient services representative to greet and register incoming patients, support the checkout process, and schedule future appointments as appropriate.

You will verify demographics, interpret insurance responses, and handle financial conversations with patients while ensuring privacy and compliance with HIPAA. The role emphasizes accurate records, timely follow-up, and seamless multi-channel communication.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School Diploma or GED (Required).
• Minimum of 1 year of related work experience (Preferred).

Responsibilities

• Check in patients and verify demographics.
• Assist with patient check-out and scheduling of future appointments.
• Read and interpret insurance responses.
• Assign primary/secondary/tertiary insurance per encounter.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
• Communicate financial obligations and collect fees as applicable.
• Complete regulatory forms with patients.
• Schedule follow-up appointments including specialty or ancillary services.
• Process multi-channel messages regarding appointments, referrals, prescriptions, and complaints.
• Notify patients of anticipated financial responsibility and collect amounts due.
• Post cash according to department guidelines.
• Maintain patient recall and reschedule lists.
