Qualifications

• Education level equivalent to completion of four years of high school and Patient Access Certification preferred.
• Completion of a medical terminology course and familiarity with insurance reimbursement, co-pays and deductibles preferred.
• Basic computer skills with typing speed of 28 words per minute.

Responsibilities

• Register patients and document discharge information promptly and accurately.
• Input complete patient demographic and guarantor information while verifying identities.
• Obtain and verify insurance information and required consents.
• Operate the switchboard/PBX system and handle calls professionally.
• Scan documents and ensure correct signatures and patient IDs.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and protect patient privacy.
• Assist with pre-registrations and scheduling communications as needed.
• Adhere to policies and participate in quality improvement activities.
