Qualifications

• 2 years of patient registration and insurance verification experience in a health care setting preferred.
• Knowledge of HMO, PPO, POS, Medicare and Medicaid payors.
• Basic understanding of medical terminology.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as liaison between patient, payers, Patient Financial Services, and care team to facilitate registration and billing.
• Obtain, verify and enter complete demographic information to support revenue cycle.
• Verify insurance benefits and correct payor/plan in the patient system.
• Obtain insurance authorizations as required by plans.
• Maximize collection efficiency by pursuing payments at time of service.
• Scan clinical docs and register documents into the system; maintain records.
• Assist with transferring patients to other facilities when needed.
• Respond to record requests from patients, physicians and hospitals.
