Job summary

Emerus Holdings, Inc. is seeking a Patient Access Specialist at our Kelly location. The role centers on patient tracking and billing by collecting demographics, securing payment responsibility, and ensuring smooth revenue cycle processes.

You will verify insurance benefits, obtain authorizations where needed, and support transfer coordination while delivering excellent customer service in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2 years of patient registration and insurance verification experience preferred.
• Emergency Department registration experience strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of various insurance plans (HMO, PPO, POS, Medicare, Medicaid) and payors required.
• Basic understanding of medical terminology.
• Fluency in English; written and oral communication.
• Fluency in both English & Spanish is a requirement in the El Paso Market.

Responsibilities

• Maintain EMTALA, DNV, HIPAA compliance and hospital regulations.
• Deliver excellent customer service and build quality relationships with customers.
• Identify and triage patients upon arrival to ensure safety.
• Answer phones professionally and relay messages to staff.
• Obtain signatures on forms and consents.
• Verify and enter complete demographic information for revenue cycle.
• Verify insurance benefits and correct payor/plan in the system.
• Obtain insurance authorizations as required.
• Assist with collections at the time of service in a courteous manner.
• Scan registrations and documents into the system; manage medical records.
