Emerus operates small-format hospitals and seeks a Patient Access Specialist at the Kelly location to coordinate patient tracking and billing. You will gather demographics, verify insurance, and secure out-of-pocket payments to maximize hospital reimbursement.

The role emphasizes strong customer service, accurate data entry, and collaboration with care teams to ensure efficient revenue cycle management. Fluency in English is required; Spanish is a plus for the El Paso market.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2 years of patient registration and insurance verification experience preferred.
• Emergency Department registration experience strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of insurance plans (HMO, PPO, POS, Medicare, Medicaid) and payors required.
• Excellent customer service and working knowledge of MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Maintain compliance with EMTALA, HIPAA and hospital regulations in Admissions and Medical Records handling.
• Provide excellent customer service and build quality relationships with patients and payers.
• Identify and triage patients upon arrival to ensure safety.
• Verify demographics and insurance benefits for accounts to enable revenue cycle processing.
• Obtain authorizations as required by plans and coordinate transfers when needed.
• Scan and file registration and clinical documentation into the system.
