Emerus seeks an Admissions Clerk to facilitate patient registration and insurance verification, supporting the hospital revenue cycle with accurate data and billing readiness.

You will verify demographics, collect out-of-pocket amounts, and coordinate with payers and clinical teams to ensure smooth patient flow and reimbursement.

The role requires HIPAA/EMTALA compliance, strong MS Office skills, and a customer-focused approach in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of patient registration and insurance verification in health care; 2 years preferred.
• Emergency Department registration experience strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of various insurance plans (HMO, PPO, POS, Medicare, Medicaid) and payors.
• Basic understanding of medical terminology.
• Excellent customer service.
• MS Office proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• English fluency in written and spoken form.

Responsibilities

• Register patients and verify demographics to support revenue cycle.
• Verify insurance benefits and confirm payor and plan.
• Obtain insurance authorizations as required.
• Collect out-of-pocket payments and maximize reimbursement.
• Maintain medical records and scan documents.
• Provide courteous customer service at all times.
• Respond to medical record requests and coordinate with staff.
