Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is hiring a Patient Access Representative to ensure a welcoming, efficient entry for patients across registration and scheduling. You will help collect and verify demographics, insurance, and payment details while guiding patients through the process.

Extensive training on EHR systems is provided; work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with a focus on accuracy, confidentiality, and patient safety. Experience in call center or customer service is a plus.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Associate's degree preferred.
• 1-3 years related work experience.
• Experience with computer systems including web-based applications and Microsoft Office.
• Call center and/or telephone customer service experience preferred.
• Bilingual written and verbal communication skills.
• Familiar with EHR software.

Responsibilities

• Registers patients for visits and explains the registration process.
• Processes co-payments, co-insurance, deductibles, and balances due; safeguards cash and receipts.
• Completes the Medicare Secondary Payer Questionnaire and adjusts coverage.
• Obtains signatures on consent forms and financial documents; scans and records documents.
• Counsels patients on non-covered services and ABNs.
• Maintains a neat, confidential registration desk and waiting area.
• Initiates scheduling from multiple sources and verifies patient information.
• Ensures accurate referral and insurance data; informs patients about financial clearance.
• Supports pre-registration and guarantor assignment; verifies real-time eligibility.
