Job summary

University of Southern California Arcadia Hospital is seeking a Patient Access Representative under the direction of the Admitting Manager. The role interview incoming patients, gather demographic, medical, and financial information, and produce a complete admission record for both inpatients and outpatients.

The position requires excellent communication, a strong customer service mindset, and the ability to work under pressure.

Qualifications

Minimum education: High School or equivalent.
Minimum 2 years of customer service experience.
Must read and write English without difficulty; must recognize numbers.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred: medical terminology and spelling accuracy.
Working knowledge of insurance reimbursement basics (Medicare/Medicaid/HMO/PPO).
BLS Healthcare Provider certification or must obtain within 30 days of hire.
MAB training to be obtained within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

Interview incoming patients (inpatient and outpatient) to obtain data for admission.
Create a complete and accurate admission record with medical, demographic, and financial information.
Answer inquiries related to admissions and collect deposits or payments.
Interact with nursing units and ancillary departments.
Provide directions to various areas within the hospital.
