Job summary

Southern-California-Hospital is seeking a Patient Access Rep I to arrange efficient admission of inpatients and outpatients. You will collect accurate patient information and inform patients about hospital policies and procedures.

Role requires strong customer service, English communication, time management, and computer literacy. Includes PBX duties and coordination with departments to ensure smooth admissions.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• One year of previous experience in a customer service role.
• Basic Understanding of Medical Terminology.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Strong time management skills.
• Ability to multitask and maintain a work pace appropriate to workload.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Computer literacy and proficiency.
• Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job.
• Hospital Fire and Life Safety Card within 30 days of hire date (Hollywood and Van Nuys only).

Responsibilities

• Registers all patients according to department procedures. Completes admission forms accurately and thoroughly.
• Prepares financial folders and distributes copies to appropriate departments.
• Verifies insurance coverage and eligibility; collects payments and issues receipts.
• Operates PBX and answers calls, routing to the correct department or patient room.
• Ensures physicians are authorized to admit patients and refers delinquent physicians as needed.
• Maintains confidentiality for patients, families, employees, and visitors.
