Job summary

Mercy Health in Toledo, OH is seeking a Patient Access Representative to be the first line of service for patients and the community. The role involves scheduling appointments, verifying demographics, obtaining insurance information, and updating medical records accurately and efficiently.

Essential functions include excellent customer service, problem-solving, patient registration, insurance verification, and maintaining confidentiality.

Qualifications

• High School Degree or GED is required or preferred.
• Associate Degree is preferred but not required.
• Prior experience in patient registration/healthcare is preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provides excellent customer service and communications with patients, medical staff, and the general public.
• Troubleshoot and resolve problems promptly.
• Performs registration and basic insurance verification, ensuring accurate patient identity for billing.
• Maintains the confidentiality of all patients’ records and accounts.
• Ensures patient flow is maintained and informs Supervisor of any department and patient issues immediately.
• Answers the telephone using an established greeting and assists callers in a friendly and helpful manner.
• Other duties as assigned.
